Dehkhoda's dictionary is a comprehensive book that includes descriptions and meanings of Persian words. This dictionary is the biggest and most important work of Ali Akbar Dehkhoda, which spent more than 40 years of his life. Dehkhoda's dictionary also has the meaning, interpretation, and historical description of a significant number of Arabic loanwords that entered Persian.
Dehkhoda's dictionary contains a large part of the literary words of the Persian language, with their meaning and their use in poems. It also contains all the original Persian words. Despite this, this dictionary lacks most of the Persian scientific and technical words that were introduced to the field of Persian language in the decades after the dictionary was compiled. The current printed version of the dictionary has 67,265 three-column pages of small print. There are 23,911 pages in the second edition of the new edition, which is printed in the form of 15 volumes of the dictionary and one volume of the introduction.
